Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra
Adjusting the Mirror, Aligning our Hearts
Early in the morning on March 25th, we welcome the first eclipse of 2024—a lunar eclipse in the relationship-oriented sign of Libra. Ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and finances, Libra brings its harmonious energy to the forefront during this lunar eclipse. Libra is often associated with balance, diplomacy, and the pursuit of equanimity in relationships and the surrounding environment. As the moon finds itself veiled by Earth's shadow, the energies of Libra are amplified, encouraging us to introspect and recalibrate the equilibrium in our lives—and in our relationships.
But before we can experience shifts in our relationships, or anywhere in our lives, we must first create shifts within ourselves. Libra invented the idea that the people and the world around us serve as a mirror and that mirror is reflecting us back to ourselves all the time. Do we like what we see? If not, this eclipse arrives to help know ourselves more authentically so that our life and relationships can reflect the genuine nature of our hearts.
That is the ultimate beauty of our most intimate and significant relationships, isn’t it? They give us countless opportunities to grow, to know ourselves in deeper ways, and to experience the divine expression of love. However, the journey to this growth, depth, and love often involves conflict, tension, and sometimes pain. Eclipses bring endings and beginnings—solar eclipses bring creation and lunar eclipses close chapters—and this eclipse is bringing about a final ending in the realm of relationships. It could be a cycle, a way of relating that is unhealthy, a habit, a belief, or in some cases, an actual relationship. Whatever it is, if it closes during an eclipse, you can trust it is for the highest good of all… even if it doesn’t feel that way.
Always remember that eclipses are fated resets and there is something in our relational lives that is asking for a reboot. You can relate with this eclipse in more specific ways by finding the area of your chart ruled by Libra but eclipses are a collective moment—they will do their work on us regardless of where Libra falls for us natally and regardless of whether we are conscious of it or not. Eclipses are also not moments to ritualize, they are moments to receive. During a lunar eclipse, old emotions and memories can rise to the surface and dreams can be especially potent. Journaling, meditating, and bathing are all beautiful ways to care for yourself during this lunation. Libra is an air sign so gentle breathwork can also be very therapeutic, especially as it relates to helping big feelings move up and out.
With this eclipse we enter what many astrologers refer to as “the wormhole”—the two-week span between one eclipse and another that acts as a cosmic fold in time. We begin with the first eclipse and can accelerate into a completely different experience by the time the next eclipse arrives. They put us on new tracks, speed up lessons, course correct us, and heal us. The next eclipse will be a Total Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8th and whatever we release now is surely making room for the burst of initiatory energy that the New Moon Eclipse in fiery Aries will bring. More on that next month. For now, allow the beautiful, harmonious, and gentle energy of Libra to assist you in letting go and preparing you to receive a relational experience with life and love that is most aligned with your heart.
