Practical Ways to Use Tarot
The Full Moon in Aries ignites themes of bold action and sexual passion, driven by the fiery energy of Mars. This lunation heightens desire, encouraging confident expression of physical attraction and intimacy.
It’s a powerful moment to embrace your passions fearlessly, pursuing what (or who) sparks your inner fire. However, the impulsive nature of Aries reminds us to channel this intensity mindfully, ensuring a balance between desire and respect for others' boundaries.
For this Full Moon, we’re offering a ritual to ignite passion—whether with a partner or within yourself—along with a tarot spread to explore what truly sparks your desires and lights you up from within.
Ritual is from Spell for the Modern Mystic.
Passion Ritual
If your relationship feels stale or you want to live with more verve, performing this ritual will ignite desire and passion. We will be working with Aphrodite, the goddess of love, passion, and lust, to connect with these energies.
Supplies
- Altar or table
- Love Square traced on a 2" x 2" paper
- Pen
- Red spell candle
- Paper clip or carving tool
- Ritual oil
- Small plate or tin foil
- Nonflammable bowl or fire pit
ORIENT YOUR ALTAR
Place your altar on the south side of the room.
MAKE A LOVE SQUARE
Draw the Love Square and write the numbers 3, 5, 16, 17, and 22 on the back. If you have a partner add their name as well.
CONNECT WITH APHRODITE
Sit in front of the altar and hold the Love Square at your chest. With eyes closed envision a ball of fire right below your navel and sex organs. Allow the energy of arousal to grow and spread through your body. When it peaks open your eyes and say: “I call Aphrodite, Lady Venus, Goddess of passion, lust, wisdom, and beauty. Grant me passion in my relationships and open all paths to desire.”
BUILD THE CONNECTION
Immediately repeat the names of Aphrodite passionately until aroused: Argennis, Aportophia, Aphakitis, Aphrodite (Ar-gin-ees, Ap-oh-tro-fee-ya, Af-ah-kee-tis, Af-ro-dy-tee)
BUILD THE ENERGY
Once you feel completely aroused by the energy and your emotions are strong, place the Love Square on the altar in front of you. Grab the candle and carve words like passion, your lover’s name, or any other words describing what you’d like to create.
DRESS THE CANDLE
Anoint the candle with oil and light the candle, place a drop of wax on the plate or foil and stamp the bottom of the candle so it’s standing (or use a holder).
CLOSE THE RITUAL
Let the candle burn all the way down. The ritual is complete, but keep and eye on the candle as a safty precaution. Burn leftover wax in a firepit or fire proof bowl.
CLEAN UP
In closing stare into the flame and say out loud with all the desire you can muster: Venusian flames, take us! Make our passion beyond our beliefs. Hail Aphrodite and Venus! Thank you for coming to my ritual.
