As the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to change, we find ourselves at the threshold of the Autumn Equinox, a time of balance and renewal. This celestial event marks the official transition from summer to fall, bringing with it a sense of introspection and a call to harvest the fruits of our labors.

Metaphysically, the Autumn Equinox represents a time of equilibrium, where the forces of light and dark, yin and yang, are in perfect harmony. It's an opportunity to reflect on our journey, release what no longer serves us, and prepare for the inward journey of winter.

Simple Practices

Here are some simple exercises you can keep in mind throughout the upcoming season. See if you can work these into your daily routine:

Grounding and Gratitude
Connect yourself to the earth and your body by spending time in nature and observing the changes of the trees, leaves, and weather. Think about what you’re grateful for and looking forward to in this new season.

Letting Go
Is there anything you accumulated over the summer that you would like to leave in the past? Release what no longer serves you through journaling, meditation, or a cleansing bath.

Seasonal Offerings
Incorporate autumn-inspired elements into your self-care routine, such as using warm, cozy scents and indulging in seasonal foods. If you have an ancestral altar, include your loved ones in this ritual.

Journal Prompts

  • Reflect on the blessings and lessons of the summer season. Express gratitude for your experiences and the growth you've achieved.
  • Reflect on the goals and intentions you set during the summer. What have you accomplished? What still needs attention?
  • How do you feel about the transition from summer to fall? What emotions arise as the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to change color?
  • Set intentions for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. What do you want to cultivate in your life? What goals do you wish to achieve?
  • As the days grow shorter, how do you feel about the shift towards introspection and inner reflection? What opportunities does this inward journey present?
  • What self-care practices nourish you during the fall season? Consider incorporating autumn-inspired activities like cozying up with a good book, enjoying warm beverages, or taking long walks in the crunchy leaves.
